DESAPARECIDOS: Mothers of the Disappeared

Rosa serves as Vice-President of the AsociaciĆ³n Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo. Her son-in-law, Jose Martinas Perez Rojo (age 24), was kidnapped on October 6, 1978. Later the same day at home, her eight-month pregnant daughter, Patricia Julia Roisinblit de Perez (age 25), and 14-month-old granddaughter, Mariana Eva, were taken. Mariana was returned to her father's family soon afterwards, and Patricia was taken to one of over 300 private detention houses to await delivery. A survivor testified that Patricia was transferred to ESMA a few days before the birth of her son, whom she named Rodolfo Fernando.

On April 13, 2000, the Abuelas received an anonymous telephone call informing them that the birth certificate of Patricia's infant son had been falsified and the child given to an Air Force civil agent and his wife. Following the informant's details, he was located and agreed to a DNA blood test, confirming his identity. Rosa Roisinblit holds pictures of Rodolfo's child, a son, born November 12, 2007. He is the first known child of a missing grandchild returned to his family through the work of the Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo.
